Nathan Zeinstra

Nate (MSc 2026) did thesis research on Using eDNA to Detect Native Lamprey Species in the Laurentian Great Lakes and Upper St. Lawrence River Basins at the University of Guelph, co-supervised by Dr. Robert Hanner. His project, funded by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, was centered around using environmental DNA to map the distribution of native Ichthyomyzon lampreys in Ontario and comparing eDNA and electrofishing methods for their efficacy in lamprey detection. Currently, Nate works for the Saugeen Ojibway Nation's Coastal Waters Monitoring Program.
